Welcome!

My hobbies are camping and playing with my 7 year old granddaughter and my extensive Lego collection.  I am going to try to include a few of my photos of all the fun we have!  I also love listening to Southern Gospel music -  last year I discovered Elvis Gospel - I never knew that side of him.  The Elvis He Touched Me DVD set is very interesting.  I also love The Cathedrals and the Gaithers especially on DVD so I can watch them sing!

My Home Page will sometimes include information of family events and I don't know what else - we shall see!  I just know I'm going to have lots of fun with it.

My husband of 18 years is retired, but helps out in the custom embroidery shop we started in 1991.  His oldest son is buying the business from us, but it is in the same building as our home, so it is very convenient for Floyd to help when needed.  I wanted a job that I would be off work in the summer months so we could travel to Colorado, so that is working real well - I'm off when the kids are out of school which means I can help take care of Lexy when she is out of school.

I got a part-time job about 1 1/2 years ago working in Food Service at a local junior high school.  After not working for six years due to burn out, I welcomed a job that didn't require thinking and making decisions.  The six other ladies I work with are a great bunch.  I don't do any of the cooking, which is a good thing for the students and me!  I wash dishes, wipe tables, help serve the food and various other cleaning duties.  I don't mind doing the dishes - I have always liked washing dishes and didn't even put a dishwasher in our house we built five years ago.  Floyd likes to cook, so we make a great pair!

We built a metal building in 2002 to live in and just LOVE it!  We started with the embroidery shop part 40' by 50' and then added another 80' by 50' for our private living space.  We took that 80' by 50' and divided it up in three sections - one for a 4-car garage, one for a 1,350 sq. ft. living space, and one for a covered patio that houses our fifth-wheel trailer and gives us an outdoor living room.  It's especially great sitting on our patio when it is raining.  Our camper (with full hook-ups) is our guest house because we only wanted one bedroom for us inside.  We have a huge 27' by 32' great room for family get-togethers.  It has concrete floors and a 13' tongue and groove White Aspen wood ceiling.  The kitchen cabinets are also Aspen that we ordered from a saw mill in Colorado and picked it up ourselves.  Floyd's youngest son had been working in a cabinet shop in Alaska, so he moved back here to build all our cabinets and we love them!

A SUPER BIG THANKS to everyone for making the Dan & Ida Eck Family Event a very successful one!!!  I believe all had a great time!

The music was especially enjoyed by all!

It took a lot of work on everybody's part and was so greatly appreciated!

First of all I want to appoligize for taking so long in  posting the final information of our family gathering.

I believe we all had a wonderful time (except for the cleaning some of us had to do).  The food everyone brought was marvelous to say the least.  The music was definitely “Eck Family” – young and old alike joined in most all day Saturday to provide the perfect backdrop for our day together.  I don't know the exact age of the youngest - maybe 10 years old - we also had professionals:  "Coles Bluegrass" - be sure to check out their web site!

Neta and Elizabeth Murphey’s table centerpieces were terrific!  They took a lot of thought and time to put together and transport and were and still being greatly loved and appreciated!  There was a “drawing” by each family for their family decoration, then the rest were auctioned off for expenses.

We so enjoyed seeing Aunt Ella Mae, Aunt Ruey and Aunt Lillian and their families that got to come!  My mother, your Aunt Clara, would have LOVED to be there, but was in the hospital.  She is doing so well now that if God permits, she will be at the next reunion!  She is getting better and stronger every week and we give God the praise!  We sure missed Uncle Paul and Aunt Frances, but may we all see them in glory some day.  We missed each one that could not make it and hope everyone plans to come to the next event in April of 2010.

I believe there was a total of 84 on Saturday, 55 spent the night in the cabins and more in their own RV’s.  We closed on Sunday morning with attendance of 79 for a short worship time lead by Herschel Eck, family group singing and testimonies.  It was a very special time!

We want to give a BIG HUGE THANKS to Carl & Berniece and families for the wonderful breakfast feast Sunday morning!

Also we so very much appreciated everyone that so willingly helped clean up before and after and helped with all the work involved in such an event!  Each one of you contributed and it could not have been done without you!

We had a short meeting on Sunday morning and voted to hold the next reunion the third weekend in April, 2010.  The length of stay will be up to the new hosts.  We have great volunteers to host:  Garyld Miles, Marvin Miles, Lonnie Miles and Herschel Eck and their families  (If I have this wrong, please let me know via email)

The Money Part:

$300 carried forward from 2006
$851 donations collected (which included auction and cabin rent monies)

Total:  $1,151.00

Expenses reimbursed to Neta and Loretta totaled $333.50
There were no expenses for Group Camp rental due to the unkept conditions of the buildings.  A total refund of $315.75 was not begged for or insisted on, but offered to us and received in a timely manner thanks to the Oklahoma Department of Recreation.

$817.50 carried forward for 2010 reunion!!

Approximate break-down of expenses:
$54.36 for table centerpieces
$92.61 for paper plates, bowls, cups, napkins, towels and plastic cutlery
$27.06 for 66 postage stamps
$10.00 for printer ink (for paper mailings)
$5.00 for roll paper for tables
Plus numerous miscellaneous items – food, cleansers, ice, soaps

Items brought/used at no charge: paper and envelopes for postal mailings, dish cloths, hand sanitizer, shipping tape, table cloths, tea towels, extra paper towels, extra cold breakfast cereal.

I decided to try to contact everyone either via email or snail-mail.  I had received some snail-mailings back and tried again.  I didn’t want anyone to be left out and I hope I succeeded.

If anyone changes email or snail-mail addresses in the next 2 years, please let me or Neta know.  We both have a listing in our computers that will need to be updated for 2010.  Thanks!

MANY, MANY THANKS to everyone for a very memorable Eck Family Event!
Hosts: Loretta Siebert, Neta Murphey and Gary Eck

P.S. I was taking as many pictures as I could for my mom, so I have over 100 photos plus 19 videos of music and singing. I can “share” the photos with you that have email through Snapfish – it won’t cost you anything to sign up with them - they only charge for the prints you want to order. (Let me know if you want me to "Share" that album with you)  If you order, you can pick them up at a local Walgreen’s store or have them shipped directly to you.  I’m trying to make a DVD of the photos and videos (my second time to try this), but having some trouble.   I will let everyone know via email when it is finished.

My Family

My daughter and son-in-law sell real estate in Enid, Oklahoma. They are very creative and also do web site design on the side.

I have a blast with their 7 year old daughter, Lexy, who likes to sell her own children's artwork.  Be sure to check our her web site.

My husband already had 3 adult children, two boys and one girl.  The oldest (buying the embroidery shop) is not married, but the other two are, so.....
that is where seven more granddaughters come from!  They are fun to play with and do crafts with!  Four of them live in Tulsa, OK, not as close as we would like - they range in age from 3 to 19!  Three of them live in Kremlin, OK (close to us) ages 10, 11 and 16.  The 10 and 11 year olds like to come visit us and play Legos.

Mom is doing GREAT!  She is puttering around the house/yard again. She is back to where she was about 2 years ago!  She went to Guthrie campmeeting last Sunday (Donna drove her) and she is planning on going to Monark Springs Camp Meeting in July!  She hasn't been using her cane this past week.  She's not taking any medication and her color is back to normal.  The stint that the doctor inserted from the liver to the upper intestine is working great.  He will do the same procedure in August because the stint can't stay in any longer than 4 months and he wants to try to get the rest of the stones removed.   If he can break up and vacume out the rest of the gall stones, he won't even insert another stint!  Thank God!

She is not even having any pain any more.  Just her back bothers her when she is up too long on her feet, but that is normal for her due to a curve in her spine.  She also can not drive at night due to night blindness, so we work aroung that.

Mom was told 2 years ago that she would need catarac surgery on her right eye, but the doctor told her in May that she won't need it for another 3-4 years maybe.

We give God the praise for mom's health - even 7 year old Lexy gets it - in her prayer the other day she thanked God for making great-grandma better.  We do believe God performs miracles every day and we do believe in divine healing, but sometimes God uses people (professional doctors) as instruments to help us - God gave them the knowledge to know how and what to do.  We thank God for all he has done for mom all of us!!!
